Why Won’t Walt Minnick Come Into The ICB Spotlight For An Interview?

Hello Conservatives,

ICB has spent a lot of time covering the Idaho 1st Congressional Dist Election. Focusing primarily on the Republican primary, interviewing Vaughn Ward two times and Ken Roberts and Raul Labrador each once. I have also spent some time on Congressman Walt Minnick and his record.

To borrow a phrase from Fox News ICB has attempted to be “Fair and balanced”. For 6 months I have asked numerous times for an interview with Walt Minnick. Minnick’s staff has been polite to me and usually I get a timely response to my requests. At first it was, “Walt is concentrating on doing the work for Idaho and is not concentrating on the race at this time”. Then it was, “check back after the Holidays”. Yadda yadda yadda. So despite the obvious, this is the Idaho Conservative Blogger and after all Minnick IS NOT CONSERVATIVE. I have said before, its ICBs position he is not even a Blue Dog. Walt Minnick is a Liberal Democrat. To be fair I get interview request denials all the time including Bill Sali who won’t talk to me either and yes, I have asked. But, Minnick’s staff is not giving me a denial just a put off indicating a possible maybe.

I promised the Minnick camp I would be respectful and give him the opportunity to correct me if my analysis of him has been wrong. I think I was fair with Mike Simpson, Chick Heileson, Vaughn Ward, Raul Labrador, Governor Otter, TJ Thomson and others and I think they would agree.

If Minnick stands by his record without regret than why not come in and defend it in polite conversation. I’m not kidding myself. I don’t think or would even try to change Minnick’s mind, I would just like to have the opportunity to respectfully agree to disagree on issues but to discuss them out in the open.

I have been asking for an interview for months with no luck and recently Minnick gave time to the local web site Treasuredvalley.com. With all due respect, I love Treasuredvalley.com and they have been and continue to be kind to ICB but political they are not. They run political articles and regularly link to my articles but you would not expect them to throw any hard balls toward Minnick or any other politician. It’s not the business they are in.

Regardless of who wins the 1st Congressional Republican Primary, Ward or Labrador, they are going to go after Minnick with all they can get and believe me there is plenty. If I were advising Minnick, (I’ll give you this one for free) I would send Minnick into ICB or into another political interview and see what kind of questions come up as kind of a warm up for the hard balls Ward or Labrador will be throwing. It would be a great way to find out what’s coming and give time to start polishing the responses but, that’s just me.

I’ll keep waiting, hey Walt, Come on in to ICB, The waters warm.
