Hello Conservatives,

I have to give it to State Senator Nicole LeFavour - District 19, Boise, she is my favorite North end liberal Democrat. LeFavour is never afraid to speak her mind and tells it like she sees it. Even though I disagree with pretty much every word that comes out of her mouth, I give her credit for speaking her mind and not trying to hide who she is. The Boise North end, known for being a Liberal Mecca has the perfect representative.

In her most recent blog posting titled “Heartless” she describes the statehouse as the “marble tower” two blocks from the Department of Health and Welfare and her disappointment with the JFAC budget cuts. She Called out Rep Fred Wood saying, “if Representative Fred Wood had had his way we would have only talked about the numbers.” She continued, “Wood, maker of the motion, leader of the heartless, had the lack of sensitivity to mention going home as he wove his committee debate this morning there under the grand columns and the domed, cream colored ceiling.” And “Representative Wood, the scowling man with the mustache and thick glasses glaring over his microphone said we HAD to cut this budget as we did.”

You gotta give her credit. In a process that much of the time can be dry and monotonous, LeFavour makes ones ears stand up and pay attention, if for nothing else, the sparring she is not afraid to engage in.

She continued, “we have handed down a fly by the seat of your pants budget full of intent language acknowledging that it may fall apart by January. And if it does it seems that's ok because January is after the elections.”

Then, she went into my favorite part of the liberal mantra, “This is where my heart sinks... knowing that posturing and protecting ourselves for our own legislative re-election comes before our responsibilities to the state and its people, particularly the most vulnerable. That is where my heart dies in this place, watching that over and over and over.”

ICB just wants to reach out to LeFavour and offer a hug.

The best part of the posting was reading the comments. One said, "I am hopeful when I see that a precious few folks like yourself” another, “I love you. Hug” and, "giving a voice to those that may be considered 'vulnerable”.

ICB believes from what I have read and heard LeFavour truly believes that she is in the “marble tower” to help those who can’t help themselves, (fine) but like I pointed out on these pages on January 23 in my post titled “Idaho, The Nanny State? State Senator Nicole LaFavour’s view for Idaho, she is willing to develop a help yourself to other's money mentality instead of helping people learn to help them selves.

Some of my favorite LeFavour statements from my Nanny State post:

“If we can keep people in a state of being where they are not starving and creating a health crisis that we have to pay for in emergency rooms in hospitals and with county indigent funds that come out of your property taxes or where we have to put Medicaid dollars into them because they lost a job or lost their mental health because they had no mental health care or where they have to go to prison where we have to you know spend thousands and thousands of dollars more than we would if we just fed them in the first place or made sure that their family was in stable housing or had mental health care. We understand that at a certain level we create more cost for society if we don’t provide something basic."

"The sates responsibility is to provide some level of food and shelter and care to people when they are in crisis and again it’s on all of us as tax payers if the state does not do that.”

“I think it’s matter of what we as a civilized society decide we collectively have to give personally, it would be great if we could give an hours instead of money but what we collectively have to give to make our society work. And to make sure the people aren’t starving in street, or being homeless, or going without medical care. I mean I pay my taxes because that’s what I want. I don’t want my neighbors to go hungry."

"I totally believe we need to share the wealth. I think as a responsible society and I am not speaking for my political party I am speaking for myself.”

"I do think people who make more should pay more and I say that only because somehow we have to make sure people are not starving in the street or dying in the street from cancer because they don’t have health insurance. I personally wouldn’t want to live in a country like that. And if you think it would be okay to live in a country like that then you know that’s your prerogative then you can elect representatives and Senators that believe that so, that is the debate at hand. What kind of a county do we want to live in? What kind of a state?"

Once again you have to give props to LeFavour for telling it like she sees it. If this is who the Boise North end wants to represent them I would much rather have someone like her than a sneaky blue dog claiming Democrat that is really a staunch liberal.

So even though I disagree with LeFavour on her politics, today I offer her an e-hug, It sounds like after last week she needs one.
